Joining a club can be very helpful. Finding others to boat with can sometime be a challenge. You will find that the boating community is a fantastic arena to meet very genuine and helpful people!
Founded in 1954, American Whitewater is a national non-profit organization (Non-profit # 23-7083760) with a mission “to conserve and restore America’s whitewater resources and to enhance opportunities to enjoy them safely.” American Whitewater is a membership organization representing a broad diversity of individual whitewater enthusiasts, river conservationists, and more than 100 local paddling club affiliates across America. The organization is the primary advocate for the preservation and protection of whitewater rivers throughout the United States, and connects the interests of human-powered recreational river users with ecological and science-based data to achieve the goals within its mission.
American Canoe Association (ACA)
The American Canoe Association (ACA) is a member based, national nonprofit organization serving the broader paddling public by providing education related to all aspects of paddling; stewardship support to help protect paddling environments; and sanctioning of programs and events to promote paddlesport competition and recreation (aka FUN!).
Atlanta Whitewater Club
The Atlanta Whitewater Club (AWC) welcomes all levels of paddlers, from newbies to the very experienced. Our members are kayakers, canoeists, and rafters. Some members have been involved for ten or more years and have paddled since the 70’s, and many others have recently taken up the sport or recently joined the club.
Georgia Canoe Association (GCA)
GCA is a member-operated canoe & kayak club with over 500 family and corporate memberships comprising more than 1500 individuals. Canoeists and Kayakers of all ages and paddling abilities are equally welcome. Some of our mutual interests include whitewater river running, creeking and playboating, river and lake touring, sea kayaking, paddle camp outs and competition and racing activities. We espouse conservation, environmental and river access issues as well as boating safety and skills development. Group paddling, training and social activities of all kinds are conducted throughout the year thanks to the volunteer efforts of our many members and friends. Membership is NOT limited to Georgia residents. ~Paddling Since 1966.
Carolina Canoe Club
The CCC has grown dramatically over the past 35+ years. We currently have more than 700 individuals and families as members. While the majority live in North Carolina, a sizable number are from contiguous states. Many others have retained their memberships despite having moved to far away states (and even foreign countries), presumably to keep up with the sport in the Tarheel state. There are a couple from as far away as England and Australia.
Tenessee Valley Canoe Club (TVCC)
Welcome to one of the Southeast’s largest and best paddle clubs! We have members from as far away as Florida and the Mid-west, but are geographically centered in Chattanooga, drawing paddlers from southeast Tennessee, northwest Georgia, north Alabama and western North Carolina.
Birmingham Canoe Club (BCC)
The Birmingham Canoe Club, Inc. (BCC) is an active canoe club with over 150 family memberships. We are based in Birmingham, Alabama where we have access to excellent spots to paddle canoes and kayaks. We are dedicated to the advancement and enjoyment of canoeing, kayaking, and all paddle sports. The club is committed to conserving waterways and to promote access to those waterways for all.
